Intro Letter Post

Hello,
My name is Alexander David Mowery.  I was born in Orange County and grew up in Menifee, CA.  When I was younger it was a fairly small town but, now has became a city.  It was a great place to grow up!  I attend Callie Kirckpatrick Elementary, Menifee Valley Middle School and Paloma Valley High School all located in Menifee.  I started at Cal State San Marcos in 2006 and have been here ever since.  I will be graduating in May and hopefully entering the single subject credential program in the fall.  Umm what i do for fun is snowboard and try my hand at some international cooking.
Well when it comes to technology i would like to think that I am pretty savvy.  Day one of this class showed me however that I still have a lot to learn.  I’m actually very interested in learning how to integrate all of this technology in the classroom to give my students a better learning experience.  I have had a PC my whole life so this whole MAC thing is new to me.  Already though I think I have fallen in love with the MAC.
I really like the CSUSM/COE mission statement.  I think that it is basically trying to say that this University is trying to change the field of education to meet the demands that are facing it now and in the future.  I like to think that this mission statement applies directly to the education that I am receiving on this campus.  Although this is my first semester taking any education related classes I’m sure as I continue my education here this mission statement will become more and more meaningful too me.

  2. Hey Alex! I liked your blog =) I also like snowboarding, however, I've been taking it easy lately, I'm 26 now and not as willing to take on jumps anymore. I have become more of a wuss and enjoy waiting down the slopes at the "beach bar" =) International cooking huh?! Thats awesome, sounds like fun!

  5. Hey Alex,

Where does your spice for international cooking come from? I know the feeling of growing up in a small town. There is a lack of exposure to the world sometimes but if you seek it out it is rewarding.

  6. Hi Alex!

Nice post! I like the action picture of you fishing. You look outdoorsy :). I feel the same way about the mission statement. I like how its focus is on improving the education system.

  8. Hey Alex!

I totally agree with you about still having a lot to learn about technology. I've never had a Mac before and learned all my computer skills on a PC, so learning all the technology on a Mac will be an adventure.

    Congrats on graduating in May!

  9. Hey there Alex,

cool blog. I lived in murrieta before moving into the dorms, I also went to Paloma Valley High School to drop of my younger brother there a few years ago. I am also new to the mac, but it is interesting that I never see Macs being used at where I work because I am an avid tutor and never seen one. I liked what you said about the mission statement, and I agree the education system is ongoing and changing and teachers must move along with that change. Oh and I liked the picture where you were fishing.Good Job.
